Son of Jaguar First Interactive (VR)

The National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) will be presenting Son of Jaguar, Jorge Gutiérrez’s first interactive VR 360° short on September 26th and September 27, 2017 produced by Google Spotlight Stories and Reel FX. Latino Media Fest attendees will have the chance to experience the short at the Sponsor Lounge from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m Tuesday and Wednesday. Jorge Gutiérrez will be at the Latino Media Fest Wednesday to lead the Animation Master Class from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.


The VR short film tells the story of the once-mighty, masked luchador, Son of Jaguar, faces his legacy, his family, and what it means to be a part of something bigger than himself. Jorge Gutiérrez is the creator and director of“Book of Life ”  and El Tigre. Co-creators of Son of Jaguar include Producer David Eisenmann and Kirk Bodyfelt, Supervising Technical Directors Cassidy Curtis and John Anderholm.

Film critics have the unique role in informing the public, those not well-versed in film industry, of the nuanced highlights and the subtle technical flaws. Their trusted voice and analytic perspective serves to highlight the emerging filmmakers of their fully-realized capabilities. Audiences everywhere recognize big-name filmmakers, but fewer recognize new ones or even appraise their leaps of faith? Film critics are the pioneers in the industry as they discover hidden voices.

Animation Master Class w/ Jorge Gutierrez

Painter, Writer and Director, Jorge Gutierrez will share his creativity and insights on mastering the art of directing animation. Learn about the ways in which he guides artistic and dramatic aspects, and what strategies work best when leading a cast and crew. The master class will focus on sharing tools and advice to up-and-coming animators.



Preceded by Beth David and Esteban Bravo's award-winning short, 'In a Heartbeat'. A closeted boy runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams.
